When times are good, a growing economy can support expanding the government to give out all kinds of new goodies.When times are bad, we need to help people, so we can't allow government to suffer in a bad economy. In fact, it must be expanded to help all the suffering people.
Does anyone detect a slight bias toward bigger government?
It is almost like someone is stacking the deck.
